Opening the maps
Depending on your Internet connection speed, it may take a few moments for the initial download of the mapping database.

Software Requirements
This presentation only functions fully in Internet Explorer 5.0 or above. There is limited functionality if using in Netscape. Currently the presentation only functions on a PC.

Java Virtual Machine needs to be activated to run the map presentation. To do this in Internet Explorer, go to:
Tools - Internet Options - Advanced - go to VM at the bottom of the list and tick 'JIT compiler for virtual machine'
You do not have Java installed. Follow the link above to download.

Go to the Java website

The mapping will display in any version of Java, however the more recent releases of Java prevent the address searches from working.

To work around this please visit the web site http://www.oldapps.com/java.php where you are able to download older releases of Java, then choose 'Java Runtime Environment 1.6.0.7'. Once this is installed the postcode searches will work normally. If you have more than one version of JAVA on your PC you will get a warning box on screen when first loading the map saying you need to use an earlier version of JAVA, with the option to click 'Run' or 'Cancel' - with Run allowing you to progress further.

If you have more than one version of Java on your PC you can select any one of them using the Java Control Panel .

If you wish to download the latest version of Java please click here.

The installation will typically take only around four minutes on a standard broadband connection. If you are on a corporate Microsoft Windows network, please note that the installation requires Administrator level logon privileges.
