| A2 Appendix Two - Parking

| A2.1 |
The Deposit Plan included parking standards
based on those produced by Lancashire County Council in 1988. These
standards were based on minimum provision based upon the characteristics
of the development proposed. The plan did however identify that these
standards were the subject of current review. In 1997 the County produced
"Parking in Lancashire" which made the change from minimum standards
to maximums. However, since then there have been further changes to
national and regional policy. This was in the light of recommendations
made in PPG3 and is now reflected in the requirements of Regional
Planning Guidance. |

As a result the County Council produced
draft Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) on 'Access and Parking'
and 'Parking Standards' as part of their review of the Lancashire
Structure Plan in July 2002. This was the subject of an Examination
in Public in January 2004. |

Preston City Council adopted the parking
standards within the draft SPG on an interim basis on the 12 February
2003. As a result the standards are not reproduced in this Appendix
but reference should be made to the draft standards, or in due course
the formally adopted standards. |
