1. Profile
a) Population - 3,442
b) Role - Together Anstruther and Cellardyke is the main settlement on the East Neuk coastline, and provides a centre for service, fishing and tourism facilities. Anstruther has an active partnership responsible for a town centre action plan to formulate and implement local projects.
 
2) The main planning issues are -
  • Consolidating Anstruther's role as a local service centre for the East Neuk.
  • High demand for new housing, and its affordability.
  • Replacing the economic revenue generated by the former holiday camp.
  • Brownfield redevelopment.
  • Harbour promotion and preservation.

Masterplans / Key Development Briefs
North of Ariel Court Development Brief Proposal Pr28
Fife Council will produce a development brief for the land north of Ariel Court which will establish the amount, layout and type of built development acceptable on the site, the need for potential community facilities, and taking into account the site’s position as an important landscaped entrance to the town, and the surrounding existing and proposed developments.
